Words are inadequate to describe such a wonderful guy, and although I only saw him for a short time each year in Aust, it was for many years and I will miss him. Many good times, many laughs (and many photos), and always time for a chat. I constantly saw the inspirational athlete in him, and how he was admired – a legacy to be proud of. But to me he was just Clay, a friend.

We’ll raise a glass tomorrow on Australia Day at The Fortune of War in his memory – half and half, just as it should be.

Ruth, Jasmine, Zoe, and all Claytons family, we’re thinking of you all at this time.

Kaye.

I am so sorry to hear the sad news. Clayton is such a nice guy,so I and our volunteer memmbers in Oita love him very much. We waited every year for him so exciting. The last Oita marathon he run last Octber was rainny but he did his best. On the road ,Jim and I cheerwd him up saying "Go ! Clayton ! Go, Go !!" Then he show ed his nice and big pose to us. Only about two month before . I couldn't think that I cnnot see Clayton again. He promissed to come back this year's 30th anniversary . I'm sure he'll be back in my heart and remain forever. Thank you Clayton everything you bring to me, charming smile, mild mind, joke and so on. Please come to Oita ,Japan to see his friends and the road he run. And please be good care.

Clayton, You truly were a father figure to me with all of the support and guidance that you brought to the table.......... I truly admire your passion that you had for sport and your abilities for helping others. For this I have always looked up to you and will always continue to do so........

This past summer-Clayton was the guest speaker at my fundraiser golf tournament. Through his inspirational stories-he touched many people's hearts and made it a very memorable event .........
