On behalf of Saskatchewan Athletics we would like to pass on our condolences to Ruth, Jasmine and Zoe on the passing of Clayton. He was a talented athlete and was taken from us far to early. He will be missed by all in the Athletic world. Our prayers and thoughts go out to you, his family and all his friends.

It was a terrible shock to learn of Clayton’s death, I had been speaking about him the previous day and had shared some old memories about him with a racing friend. I cannot believe he was only 45, it seemed like he was always there from the beginning, in the “quad pack” head down, pushing hard. It has been my privilege to have known him and raced against him and shared a few beers with him in the past. He has enriched all of us that knew him, he was one of the greats of our sport, he will be sadly missed but never forgotten. My sympathy and condolences go to his family.

The proper words are just not seeming to come to me right now, everything just seems a little dimmer here for the time...Clayton you were an inspiration to everyone who knew you and many who only had the opportunity to read about you. Pilot Butte will miss you beyond what any words can express...it truly is a privaledge to have known you.
Our thoughts and prayers are with your family...Another ANGEL has earned his wings...you will be the wind beneath our wheels Clayton. R.I.P.

The Saskatchewan and Canadian sport community has lost one of our great ones. I feel honored to have known him and know that the void left by his absence will never quite be filled in anyone whose life he had touched during his short time with us. Wishing Ruth, Zoe and Jasmine the ability to remember the happy times you shared during this time of great sorrow.

Ruth, Jasmine and Zoe you are in our hearts and along with Alia and Kali are thinking of you dearly.

While the loss of someone like our friend Clayton can take your breath away; the memories of his quirky humor and wit fill our hearts. Boy, could the man make you laugh!!

Don especially will miss having his daily whistles of hello with Clayton wheeling by on the road behind our home. Clayton, when we hear the wind whistling we'll think of you and say hello,

God Bless

My dear friend Clayton.
My thinking is about you and especially for your nice family with all my memories for a wonderful athlete, person and friend! We don't have answers for all our questions in these moments - we only have to accept that our life is sometimes too dangerous with 1000 risks all days...!? Memories can't be death and so you will be with us, in your wheelchair-family all the time as a héro with a great inspiration. You show me the real disabled-life with your T52-Class...a big attention for me to rest on the floor after great victories in the "Open-King-Class T53/54. You are the real big winner, because it's so much more difficult to live your life - thanks for your big example!

We have lost a brother. Clay was omnipresent- everywhere we raced in the world Clay would always be there. Was looking forward to catching up again in Oita this year but alas............
Safe journey Clay
