I have been agonizing in just what to say ever since I heard the news of Claytons's passing. Truth is, I can't think of any words to describe my thoughts and feelings for his family, friends, and the sense that the world has lost a truly great soul.

I have only known Clayton for a short while through Wascana Rehab and our efforts in trying to involve residents in w/c soccer. But I immediately felt a great respect for him. His sense of humor, determination, and drive were obvious; but as well his hope and caring for the residents of Wascana.

On behalf of the many residents and staff at WRC who knew Clayton my deepest sympathies to his family and friends.

Our heart felt sympathies to Ruth, Jasmine, Zoe and family. The memory of Clayton's accomplishments and kindness to so many will always be with you. He is truly a man to admire. Since Christine's accident he has been a close friend and mentor to her, and has always been there when she needed support. We have only known Clayton for a short period of time and he has left a mark on our family that will always be remembered. He has shown Christine that life in a wheel chair is simply an inconvenience and that life is worth living to the fullest. His guidance to her has helped her rebound and for that alone he will always be remembered by our family. You must all be very proud to have been so close to him as I know we are truly proud to have met him and have him make such a huge impact on our lives. I know that I will always think of Clayton every time I hear someone say, "Hey, how's it going"

Our deepest sympathy goes out to Ruth, Jasmine and Zoe for your loss of a loving husband and father.

Clayton touched everyone he met in life and always made a huge impression that they will always charish and reflect on. I first met Clayton when he was a community liason in our CPA office in Regina. He enjoyed his time with CPA and services he provided to our members. He loved the fact he was making a difference in the livies of people with spinal cord injuries and other disabilities. The inpact he made was refected in the goals that they pursued once leaving rehab and continue contact with Clayton in the community. Clayton was a wonderful person with a big heart and I am very proud to have met him and will always remember his views on life.

From all the CPA staff we will all miss you and fondly remember our memories together. We will all share in the loss of a great person and the amazing life he lead until the end.

I was a loaned representative for th United Way in Regina when I first met Clayton. He was the spokes person that year, and his picture was on the campaign posters, so we called him our "Poster Boy". I heard him speak many times that year, and found him such an inspiration. He had such a positive outlook on life, and he always gave 100% of himself to everything he did. He loved his family and never failed to mention his girls and their accomplishments. Clayton had such a wonderful sense of humor and his smile was infectious. He was passionate about his sports and trained hard to become the best.
I am so Thankful that I had the opportunity to meet this amazing man, he taught me to appreciate the little things in life, to live every day to it's fullest, and that you can accomplish anything you set your mind to.
I want to Thank his family for sharing this wonderful person with us.
He touched my heart, and my life will be better for having met him.
My prayers & sympathy go out to his family. I know his memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

The past days have been challenging as we try to come to terms with the reality that Clayton is no longer here. I and the girls have come to this blog many times to read, sometimes cry and often smile at the stories and memories shared by those of you who knew him well and those who perhaps only met him on occasion. It has meant so much to us to know what he and your experiences with him meant to each and every one of you. It is comforting to know that he will be remembered not only for his accomplishments in sports but also as a friend and his memory will live on in so many of your hearts as he is forever in ours. Jasmine, Zoe and I thank you so much for all the thoughts, prayers and support that have helped us through the past weeks.

"Funeral to be held Friday for Saskatchewan Paralympian Clayton Gerein" Reading those words over the net from here in San Francisco makes the unreal now real. I have been blessed to call C a good friend for many years. Like many who knew Clayton we met at Wascana, only for me it was on old station five and his fiancé was my physio.

I still remember the great motivator.... "My boyfriend Clayton can do it and he's a quad!” Ya you could always get that little extra effort out of me with that one Ruth. You snagged yourself a good one there, and he loved you very very much.

Clayton’s girls were the world to him. Nothing would put a huge smile on his face quicker than asking him how his girls were doing with their horses. He just beamed with pride.

Friday is going to be a hard day for everyone as will the weeks and months ahead. But Im going get through my day knowing that so many people will be sharing in the celebration of Clayton’s life back home and around the world. Frick we're gonna miss him.

Ruth, Jasmine, Zoe, Bill and Eileen my thoughts and prayers are with you.

Ruth and family, First meeting Clayton in the early years at Wascana Rehab, and then over the next long while in the sport arena and CPA, it was truly uplifiing to watch how he engaged everyone he met with a smile and a hello. Clayton touched lives all over the world with his genuiness and true interest in his fellow humans. My sympathies to you in this difficult time, and I know the happy memories will sustain you. Launel

I was deeply saddened to return home today to hear news of Clayton's passing. The world lost a truly great guy in Clayton! His incredible sports accomplishments just seemed to bring out more of his goal oriented and fun loving character. I had the privilege of working with Clayton recently as he prepared to be a torchbearer in the Olympic Torch Relay. I loved the way he embraced the opportunity with such enthusiasm and anticipation. And, I admire the way he wanted to include his family. I will miss that mischievous smile, friendly nature and quick wit. My deepest sympathies go out to Ruth, Zoe and Jasmine.
