I am Allan Semeniuk's mom and have met Clayton many times when wheelchair rugby was still callled murder ball.He was the greatest competitor and got over that goal line anyway possible. The penalty box was his second seat at some games however with every penalty the competitor in him just came out in him and gave the game the spirit that made it such a great game.We will all miss that mischievous smile .
I also know Ruth's parents from Weldon Saskatchewan as that is also my home town.I would like to express our deepest sympathy on behalf of my family,Allan& Cynthia Semeniuk,Lorrie & Larry ,Derek & Drew Hoium we are thinking of you and your family Ruth.

Our deepest sympathies go out to Clayton's family during this very difficult time. We were so sorry to hear of Clayton's passing. He was a great support to our Association and a true friend to all he met. He touch the lives of many and his memory will live on forever.

I am very sorry to hear the news. Can't believe that he is not with us anymore, it has only been 3 months when we had Oita Marathon and he told us that he was coming back again this year. Clayton was a great athlete and friend to us in Oita Marathon.
Rest in peace, Clayton...we will miss you a lot.

Ruth, Jasmine, Zoe & the whole Gerein Family

It is with great sadness that I heard of Clay’s passing. Clay was a great friend, a fierce competitor and all around great guy that was always there when you needed a hand or just a quick laugh. Everyone who knew Clay should feel blessed to have been a part of such an inspirational mans life and journey. As a family you should all be proud of his accomplishments, he may be gone however he will be sadly missed and never forgotten, his legacy will roll on forever. Thanks for allowing me to be a part of your journey Clay.

It is difficult to comprehend that Clayton has crossed the final finish line. He was a top-notch competitor and a great guy to hang out with. I'm really at a loss for words.

Clayton, I'll miss ya, brother. Until we meet again...

He was such a wonderful man to us, and also lovely person and ofcourse the greatest athlete. He just promised with us to bring his daughter to Oita in near future... Please don't forget you have lots of family in here in Oita and we are all in a deep sorrow. We all pray for a peace for his soul.

I wrote something about 12 hours ago in the very early morning but I guess that the tears made it hard for me to focus and hit the send button. I'll try again now.

I have met a few people in my life who because of circumstances you don't see as often as you would wish. Clay would count as one at the top of the list. Twenty years ago he scared the shit out of me as even though he was junior to me in years he was senior in every other department. I treated him with the upmost respect and then began to get to know him. We shared the fact we both had daughters and both had a Zoe, I later increased my tally to three daughters. I didn't compete with him, he was out of my league, but I watched him all over the world, Barcelona, Atlanta, Sydney and I particularly remember Athens when he shot me and my family a fantastic smile as he passed on the road during the Marathon. Like Smithy in Australia I'm going to sink a beer and toast you Clay,' one of the best of the good ones'.

To your family I can say that their is a community that this news has devastated but you will allways be remembered and everyones individual memories will be cherished for ever.

I have no words to express my sad feeling! It was only two months ago he was here to attend Oita Marathon, and after the race, he enjoyed traveling with Jim from Oita to Tokyo through Hiroshima and Kyoto. It was his first time to take a big sightseeing tour in other places, although he came to Japan many times. I remember Clayton was talking about taking his daughters to a horse riding last time when we met. It’s really, really a pity he had to leave this world so young, but his soothing smile and all what he did to us will remain in our minds forever. He was such a charming and modest person, and we cloud tell it the moment we met. I wanted to have many more chances to talk with him.
